The Hawkbinge NEW YEAR SPECIAL episode!
We're at the end of 2021 and we find Hawkwind at the end of Calvert's tenure, the end o f their Charisma contract, at the end of the 1970's and possibly at the end of the band. What better time to take stock of the state of play both with Hawkwind, but also with Matt, who has been taking this first-time journey through the weird world of Hawkwind experiencing 9 studio albums and multiple changes along the way. What does he make of it all?
And, if we're going to be chatting about the 1970's, who better to ask along for the ride than the man who quite literally wrote the book on Hawkwind in the 70's, Mr Joe Banks himself.
Along with our very special guest we choose some favourite tracks not released on those studio albums, debate Matt's most dissed tracks from season 1 and, as a prelude to season 2, we get into a bit of “Live 79” alongside chats about Joe's magnificent book and the beautiful chaos that it is Hawkwind in the 1970's.
Thank you for coming on this journey with us, see you again for season 2…
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
Joe's book is called “Days of the Underground” : click here for the awesome website and content repository about both it and the band.
